Nebraska police arrest 3 people for DUIs around GermanFest

GermanFest kicked off in Syracuse on July 14, 2018, which was a Saturday. At the same time, the officers working for the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) decided to run a special enforcement campaign. This campaign covered all of Otoe County.

During the enforcement, NSP officers were able to arrest three different people for driving under the influence. On top of that, the NSP also gave one person a citation for driving on a suspended license and another person a citation for using a child restraint system improperly.

They caught 10 different people for allegedly breaking the speed limit, and they gave out three MIPs, or charges for "minor in possession."

While police are always looking for these types of violations, the special enforcement at the same time as GermanFest cost extra money. They got that money from the Nebraska Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Office, which gave them $1,100.

For those who have never been to GermanFest before, it is a festival that draws people from all over the state. It features attractions like a beer pong tournament, a tractor pull, authentic German-style food, a concert beer garden and a special "Tapping of the Fest Keg."

They also have annual "Viener" dog races, which they have been putting on for a decade now. All of that alcohol increases the potential for people to drive under the influence when leaving GermanFest.

Have you gotten a DUI while out enjoying the summer fun with your friends and family members? Are you worried about the potential impact it can have on your employment opportunities and your bank account? If so, make sure that you fully understand all of your legal defense options.
