Motor vehicle accidents involving motorcycles are often fatal

For an increasing number of Nebraska residents, motorcycles are the preferred method of transportation. They are not only convenient and economical and are also a fun way to travel. However, traveling by motorcycle can also be dangerous. What makes them so dangerous is not the motorcycles themselves, but the other vehicles on the road. Since motorcyclists are exposed and minimally protected, motor vehicle accidents involving motorcycles are more likely to be very serious or fatal.

Recently in Omaha, a motorcyclist lost his life in an accident with another vehicle. The crash happened at night at the intersection of 72nd and Wirt streets. According to reports, the motorcyclist was approaching the intersection traveling south on 72nd Street.

Reports said a car pulled out of the intersection and into the path of the motorcyclist, causing the motorcycle to collide with the driver’s side of the car. According to authorities, the motorcyclist was badly injured in the crash and rushed to a local hospital. Tragically, he later died at the hospital, reports said. Reportedly, 72nd Street was shut down for nearly three hours following the accident.

Without question, crowded roadways in cities across Nebraska are dangerous for motorcyclists. It is important for all drivers to remain focused and attentive while operating motor vehicles. Those in Nebraska who have suffered injury or loss due to negligence in motor vehicle accidents could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in much-needed compensation to help with medical expenses and other financial losses.
